The RESMAR Project team participated as speakers in the panel titled "Resilience and Business Continuity" organized within the scope of the 7th International Resilience Congress. In the panel, moderated by Gökhan YILMAZ, Head of the Marmara Disaster Risk Reduction Department, the February 6 earthquakes were examined from a resilience and business continuity perspective, with a focus on the goals of the RESMAR Project conducted by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and its role in industry.

Within the scope of the RESMAR Project, carried out with the goal of a disaster-resilient industrial infrastructure, a drill preparatory meeting and field studies were conducted in Istanbul on September 30 - October 1, 2025. During the study visit, technical evaluations regarding the drill planning were made during inspections at the drill site on the first day; on the second day, an informational meeting was held at the Istanbul AFAD Provincial Directorate with the participation of Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ) representatives.

The 1st Steering Committee Meeting of the “Making Industrial Organizations Resilient to Disasters with a Business Continuity Management Approach: Marmara Region Application (RESMAR: Resilient Marmara)” Project, which aims to increase the resilience of Organized Industrial Zones in the Marmara Region against disasters and crises and is co-financed by the European Union (EU) and AFAD, was held on August 20, 2025. Managers and representatives from the AFAD Presidency, Ministry of Industry and Technology, Organized Industrial Zones Supreme Organization (OSBÜK), and Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK), along with the project team, participated in the meeting.

Within the scope of the two-day program, we met with representatives from Tuzla Chemical Industrialists OIZ, Güzeller OIZ, Demirtaş OIZ, GEBKİM OIZ, Birlik OIZ, İkitelli OIZ, Çerkezköy OIZ, Anadolu Yakası OIZ, and Global Karma OIZ on August 18-19, 2025.

An online informational meeting was held on July 25, 2025, with the participation of the Regional Managers of designated Organized Industrial Zones (OIZs) operating in the Marmara Region. This was within the scope of the “Making Industrial Organizations Resilient to Disasters with a Business Continuity Management Approach: Marmara Region Application (RESMAR Project),” which is carried out by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) with co-financing from the European Union.

A two-day site visit to the Tuzla Chemical Industrialists Organized Industrial Zone was successfully conducted on May 28-29, 2025, within the scope of the RESMAR Project. In the field study, which aimed to increase the disaster resilience of Organized Industrial Zones, comprehensive evaluations were made on the topics of business continuity, infrastructure capacity, disaster management, and risk analysis with the participation of OIZ administrations, the Ministry of Industry and Technology, OSBÜK, Chambers of Industry and Commerce, and technical expert teams.

At the OIZ Regional Managers Consultation Meeting, hosted by the Organized Industrial Zones Supreme Organization (OSBÜK) in Antalya on May 22, 2025, the topic of disaster resilience for organized industrial zones was discussed. At the meeting, Engineer Esen Demirkol Kılıç from the AFAD Marmara Disaster Risk Reduction Department's Technological Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group gave a presentation titled “The Importance of Business Continuity, AFAD’s Work on This Subject, and the RESMAR (Resilient Marmara) Project.” Within the scope of the presentation, approaches to strengthen the capacity of institutions to continue their operations in the face of disasters and emergencies were conveyed, and the importance of business continuity planning was emphasized.

On May 12, 2025, a hybrid meeting was held with the participation of Mr. Gökhan Yılmaz, Head of the Marmara Disaster Risk Reduction Department, and Prof. Dr. Haluk Özener, Istanbul Provincial Director of Disaster and Emergency, along with representatives from the Tuzla Chemical Industrialists Organized Industrial Zone (KOSB) and other stakeholders, within the scope of the RESMAR Project. At the meeting, a situation assessment was made based on both the legal framework and best practice examples, and the details of the first study visit to Tuzla Chemical Industrialists OIZ, to be held on May 28-29, 2025, were finalized.
