Technical Visit to Çerkezköy OIZ by the RESMAR Project Team 20 February 2026
Field activities under the “Making Industrial Organizations Resilient to Disasters through a Business Continuity Management Approach: Marmara Region Application (RESMAR)” Project, co-financed by the European Union and AFAD, were carried out through a two-day technical program hosted by Çerkezköy Organized Industrial Zone (ÇOSB), one of the pilot implementation sites.
On the first day of the program, business continuity plans and data collection forms were comprehensively reviewed with the participation of F. Çiğdem Baykal, Regional Director of ÇOSB, Mehmet Fatih Şen, Head of the Technological Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Akgün, RESMAR Project Leader and the relevant technical team.
During the meeting, the following topics were addressed:
- Identification of critical processes,
- Prioritization of time-critical operations,
- Review of the methodological framework guiding the planning approach.
In the afternoon session, a field visit was conducted to examine operational units and infrastructure processes on-site. Technical aspects related to maintaining operational continuity under potential disaster and emergency scenarios were evaluated from an implementation perspective.
Within the scope of the program, the team also visited the “Protected Workplace, Workshop and Life Center for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ZEKA)” operating within ÇOSB and received information about its activities.
On the second day, an evaluation meeting was held with the participation of Eyüp Sözdinler, Chairman of the Board of Çerkezköy OIZ, and Gökhan Yılmaz, Head of AFAD Marmara Disaster Risk Reduction Department.
During this session, the business continuity management system framework, the current progress based on existing data sets, and strategic steps to strengthen institutional preparedness at the OIZ level were discussed.
Technical activities carried out within the RESMAR Project across pilot OIZs in the Marmara Region aim to enhance the institutional preparedness of industrial infrastructure against disasters and to establish structured business continuity systems.
