At the meeting, Engineer Esen Demirkol Kılıç from the AFAD Marmara Disaster Risk Reduction Department's Technological Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group gave a presentation titled “The Importance of Business Continuity, AFAD’s Work on This Subject, and the RESMAR (Resilient Marmara) Project.” Within the scope of the presentation, approaches to strengthen the capacity of institutions to continue their operations in the face of disasters and emergencies were conveyed, and the importance of business continuity planning was emphasized.

Furthermore, the studies conducted to date and future plans were shared within the scope of the "Making Industrial Organizations Resilient to Disasters with a Business Continuity Management Approach: RESMAR Project," which aims to increase the resilience of organized industrial organizations in the Marmara Region against disaster risks. Participants gained knowledge about the strategic collaborations developed with organized industrial zones and the field applications within the project.

In the presentation, it was emphasized that the support of the senior management of Organized Industrial Zones for the preparation of business continuity plans is critical. Accordingly, the importance of collective action to increase awareness at the OIZ level and to implement practices was expressed.

The RESMAR Project, carried out by the AFAD Presidency with the participation of all stakeholders, continues its work with the goal of increasing the disaster resilience of organized industrial zones in Marmara. Although we have focused our work on the OIZs in the Marmara Region within the scope of the RESMAR project, our ultimate goal is to reach all OIZs.

Our priority is the Marmara Region; our goal is all of Türkiye.
